Overview

The Racism and Bias Initiative (RBI) emerged in 2018 as a result of student advocacy to address racism and all forms of bias in the learning environment. This movement is aimed at transforming the MD program's culture. Since then, the RBI has developed programs like Chats for Change, the Anti-Racism Fellowship, and a transformational change methodology that has been replicated nationally. The initiative now includes the MD program and the Graduate School of Biological Sciences, each with guiding coalitions of students, staff, trainees, and faculty that set annual change targets and report progress to the Mount Sinai community.
